LA Times suppresses embarrassing Obama/Khalidi video

HandsFull
The L.A. Times is sitting on a videotape that shows Barack Obama toasting former PLO operative Rashid Khalidi at a "celebration" with a group of Palestinians who are openly hostile towards Israel.

The L.A. Times refuses to release the video, instead making the lame assertion that simply talking about what's on the video is enough. Think they'd hold back such a bombshell if it was McCain toasting a man with clear ties to terrorists?

In. The. Tank.

"The Los Angeles Times did not publish the videotape because it was provided to us by a confidential source who did so on the condition that we not release it," said the newspaper's editor, Russ Stanton. "The Times keeps its promises to sources."

The original article said that Obama's friendships with Palestinian Americans in Chicago and his presence at Palestinian community events had led some to think he was sympathetic to the Palestinian viewpoint on Middle East politics. Obama publicly expresses a pro-Israel viewpoint that pleases many Jewish leaders.

In reporting on Obama's presence at the dinner for Khalidi, the article noted that some speakers expressed anger at Israel and at U.S. foreign policy, but that Obama in his comments called for finding common ground.
Hrmmm, The Obamessiah says one thing publicly and then does another thing privately? And speaks about finding common ground with terrorists? Sound about par for the course for The One.

It's worth noting that Khalidi lived near Obama in Chicago, just like well-known terrorist Bill Ayers. Gateway Pundit notes that Ayers and Obama both signed the commemorative book given to Khalidi at his going-away party.

That Obama sure can pick 'em, can't he?

Honestly, WTF? How is it that someone would release such a damaging videotape to the LA Times but then insist they NOT show it? Something smells in L.A., and it ain't just the smog.

UPDATE: The Left, in a desperate attempt to both defend Obama and smear McCain, have accused McCain of giving grants to the Center for Palestine Research and Studies (which Khalidi co-founded) while McCain served as chairman of the International Republican Institute. Only problem here is that CPRS is a pro-Israel organization while the videotaped meeting that Obama attended was decidedly anti-Zionist. Nice try, libs.

JTA, the Global News Service of the Jewish People, details the differences here.
